The Vermilion Flycatcher

I noticed how many people liked the picture of the male Vermilion Flycatcher recently posted on my sidekick Mel's blog. So... here's some more!! On friday's visit to the lake, after a couple of investigative trips along the water's edge to check on the fish, I had time to hunt for birds before Yolanda & her friends arrived.

While the female Vermilion Mel posted about long ago is still a daily visitor in our small garden, she is very camera-shy and despite countless attempts to take more pictures she flies at the first sight of me. Luckily, the male at the lake is not so wary, and with his bright red crown/chest and deep black feathers he is very photogenic.

So, without further ado...

Relaxing in front of the lake...

...taking flight...

..."Yes, I do know you're behind me"...

..."Take one of my better side"...

..."You're still taking pictures of me?!"

A great way to brighten up any day!

Hi babe!
I'm a little jealous about this post. You got to go there while I was stuck in the office, and on top of that you got georgeous pictures of a very non camera shy Vermilion!! Or what we call it in Peru, 'Turtupilín'

Hi Tommy!

Nice place you have here. Welcome to blogging. That Vermillion Flycatcher is perfection. I'm not sure about the "Evilbirder" blog name thought... :)

from northern Minnesota-

LOL - Lynne, your last comment is funny...
The blog name is 'Unnaturally Natural', the blogger tried to be cool and named himself 'Evilbirder', hahaha... but don't worry, I know for a FACT that this lovely guy is good to the bone, with a GREAT heart and soul ;)

Hi Lynne, thanks for the welcome - I'm a little shy and therefore a touch unsure about blogging, but we shall see... The vermilion flycatcher is great, definitely in my top three of birds - mainly because I see them so often :)
As for 'evilbirder', as Mel said - not the blog's name, it's just my blogger name - I have to be a little different!

Mel - the name was not done to be 'cool' hehe I'm sorry you couldn't be around to see him then, but we get to enjoy the pics always!

Thank you to both for the comments.

Hi Tommy!
Welcome to Blogging.
I adore these photos, wonderful and ever so beautiful. The close up is a "print and frame"! Mel might like a bird for her desk?
Looking forward to seeing more birds and bugs and maybe a few blooms?
Namaste,
Sherry

gallicissa, chrisss & q - thank you all for the nice comments. I hope I can get round to bringing some more to this online world soon.

Sherry - not sure if you meant the 3rd photo or the 5th. The 3rd one was cropped due to the vermilion landing on an extremely ugly bin! The 1st and last photos are my favourites, and when I just read your idea to Mel, her eyes lit up..!

Hey Tommy! Found you by way of Mel's blog. Great shots of the flycatcher. Also like the name of your blog....so true about what we actually see....

Holaaaa :)

The Vermilions are still around, and I noticed that they are becoming flying huayruros! Everytime I see one before going to work, the day might be hard and stressing, but EVERYTHING turns out ok at the end!

I think they miss you, and they visit so the guy with the camera would stalk them again...
